Glossier is the brand that I’d constantly fill up my cart online, and never end up buying anything. Half the reason I kept going to their website to fill up my cart was because of their aesthetic; I’m a sucker for simple and clean packaging! I’ve finally decided to see just what the deal is with Glossier; is it worth it? will it work with my acne-prone skin? Are they really worth the hype or do they just know how to market well on social media? Let’s find out together.
According to Glossier.com, their aim is to be the backbone of your beauty routine with no fuss makeup and skincare. In my opinion, Glossier’s products are focused on giving you dewy, fresh looking skin, and for achieving a natural makeup look. While these things can definitely sound terrifying for those of us with acne-prone skin I’ve been genuinely surprised before with products that didn’t sound all that promising. So, who’s to say we can judge before even trying?
Check out my post I did on: IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Review
I wasn’t able to purchase every single makeup and skincare item (obviously), but I bought the bits and bobs I felt most inclined to try. My only regret was not getting the beloved ‘Boy Brow’, but the thousands of videos on youtube raving about it can probably give you a good idea of its success.
Disclaimer: All products and opinions are 100% my own
I’ve been using this on and off for a week, and it’s safe to say it’s just average. I appreciate that it’s a gel formula as it’s gentle and non-abrasive as opposed to foaming washes that can leave the skin feeling ‘stripped’ post-wash. Overall, This wash does the trick of cleaning your face without stripping the skin of all it’s moisture, but it isn’t revolutionary or anything to write home about. I keep it as my ‘in-shower’ face wash, or travel wash (it has a twist-lock pump, perfect for weekends away.)
Would I recommend it? No. There are many other face cleansers that can do more for your skin while being gentle. A more affordable option would be the ‘Simple’ Skincare line, such as the Water Boost Micellar Facial Gel Wash for Sensitive Skin.
The Futuredew is said to be used as the last part of your skincare routine or under makeup. I’ve been using the Futuredew under makeup and find that it gives the skin a healthy, dewy, and fresh appearance. The texture surprised me, as it’s a lot more thicker and tackier than I expected. It isn’t as sticky as Milk’s Hydro Grip primer, but once it’s blended into the skin it’s hardly noticeable.
What I love about this product is that it gives off a natural ‘lit from within’ glow as opposed to a ‘can’t tell if she’s sweaty or oily’ look. Consider this your “glow in a bottle”! One of my fave finds of my Glossier haul.
Would I recommend it? Yes! If you’re looking for a product to help bring life and glow back to the skin (my dry-skinned gals are screaming from the rooftops) then you’ll love this.
Glossier’s Cloud Paint in ‘Dusk’
This blush is pigmented, blends seamlessly without disturbing your foundation, and leaves the cheeks looking plump and glowy. The ‘dusk’ colour is the perfect rose shade and goes with a multitude of different eye looks. This is the first cream blush that has changed my mind about blushes in a cream form!
The Cloud Paint’s one downfall is its longevity, with it lasting maybe a couple hours before dissipating.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but mostly for the colour. I would like to try other cream blushes to find one that lasts longer on the skin!
I was watching a ‘skincare experts’ product recommendation videos, and this was one of the products they said worked great. I’m all for trying lip balm since my lips are chapped all year round, and so far nothing has rid me of my chronic dry lips.
What I love about the ‘Birthday’ Balm Dotcom is the super fun packaging, and the smell of this is out of this world (It smells like the rainbow chip icing/birthday cake) so that alone makes you want to use it. It has a shimmer to it, void of any colour. It’s a thick formula that feels moisturizing when on the lips, without feeling sticky.
Would I recommend it? Not necessarily. I enjoy the smell and packaging, and it’s easy to throw into my handbag to use on the go. Does it help my chapped lips or rids of the dead skin? no. The formula and feel is very similar to that of vaseline, and so it does just about what any other lip chap would do for you. It is a fun product though, and would make a fun gift for someone.
I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now, and I feel like I’ve seen a slight improvement in the brightness of my complexion. It hasn’t broken me out; which The Ordinary’s Vitamin C formula broke me out completely and had me weary to try Vitamin C again.
Do I feel like it’s the best Vitamin C? No. I’ve had other products do much more for my skin in terms of seeing major visible effects. However, I do feel like this will need more time and use and so I don’t want to judge it in full quite yet.
Would I recommend it? I’d have to use the product for longer to give a final review, as of right now: no.
I actually really enjoyed the smell of this perfume, but I’m glad I got to try the sample first before purchasing the full size. I’m more of a ‘floral/sweet’ scent fan, and this was much muskier than I’m used to. An important thing to note, is that it didn’t last very long on the skin, I’d say it lost its scent within the hour of wear.
Perfumes are subjective, however, and so if you do make any purchases with Glossier get the sample perfume to see for yourselves and try it out!
Would I recommend it? I actually would. I feel many people would love this scent, and it’s an easy everyday wear perfume that isn’t too ‘in your face’.
Overall, I enjoyed getting to try Glossier and I was pleasantly surprised. I had some ‘let downs’ within the haul, however, the items that I did enjoy have become apart of my everyday routine.
To recap for you, my favourites from the entire haul were the Cloud Paint + the Future Dew. If you were looking to buy anything from Glossier, those would be the two I recommend the most! 💕
