June Favourites

We’ve made it to the end of June, which means June Favourites time! The time is just flying by, and it’s finally starting to feel like summer here in Ontario, Canada! (I even have the sunburn to prove it).

I’ve always loved to watch & read up on people’s faves of the month, and so I’d love to share on what I’ve been enjoying this month as well! I put it into categories since I’ve always enjoyed ‘monthly favourites’ that incorporates everything & not just beauty items. Enjoy!

Beauty Faves

Double Wear Foundation, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder on the skin & Covergirl ‘Oh Sugar!’ Lipbalm in ‘Taffy”. Zero photo retouching/edit

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation– This is my first time trying this foundation this month, and it has quickly made it to the top of my holy grail foundation list! I can easily say I’ve tried A LOT of foundations over the years, and this is one of the longest lasting I’ve tried. A little goes a long way, and when set with a beauty blender it looks divine. I will say that it can look drying or “cakey” if too much is put on or proper skin prep is not done beforehand, but when you learn how to apply it, it’s a beautiful foundation.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in ‘dim light’– This powder paired with the Double Wear foundation, is perfection. Due to the drying nature of the Double Wear, I find that this powder can bring back life into the skin and make it appear more ‘skin-like’. It is a darker powder, so I even find that it can bring a natural bronze-glow to the skin, which is perfect for entering the summer months. When I want to appear naturally glowy and set my foundation, this has been my go-to powder!

Covergirl ‘Oh Sugar!’ Lip balm– I adore these! I prefer a sheer and balmy lip colour over a liquid lip. If you prefer an opaque lip colour that lasts all day these are not for you however, they are easy to reapply and are so comfortable that you want to keep using them! They give me enough colour that I feel like I’m getting the colour payoff I enjoy, they are fuss-free, and smell delicious! My faves out of the bunch are ‘Caramel’ and ‘Taffy’.

Fashion Faves

Cropped Denim Jacket- Ultimate love of 2019 so far! I always disliked denim jackets on me, but I found a cropped Denim Jacket at an outlet Lucky Brand and have been in love ever since. I wrote a post about it this month; paired with an outfit that’s been my go-to for this month, which you can find more on here

High waisted Leopard print pants– Yes, you read that correctly. I bought a pair of high waisted leopard print pants from Pretty Little Thing, and let me tell you they are the comfiest pants I own. They spice up a basic top/outfit, and so it’s the lazy girls guide to looking put together in 5 minutes! Super fun paired with a black bodysuit, and you’re ready to go out on the town and be comfortable all night long. Eat all the pasta you want in these! I definitely will be buying these pants in other colours too.

Lifestyle Faves

Chocolats Favoris– My boyfriend’s sister-in-law introduced me to this place as it’s new to the Kanata area, and it’s worth the 45-minute drive from my place to this store! I’m a big chocolate fan, and the quality of this chocolate is to die for! I normally just get a mini original chocolate dip ice cream cone, and its the perfect amount since the chocolate is so rich! There are lots of options though so you can go as wild or as plain with your ice cream or chocolate as you’d like! *Not an ad, I seriously just love this place.

Pure Kitchen ‘Buffalo cauliflower Wrap‘- Okay, so I know how cliche and blogger this sounds of me to promote yet another vegan restaurant. I’m not a Vegan or Vegetarian by any means, but I will give credit where credit is due. This wrap is seriously good! The cauliflower bites don’t necessarily replace chicken wings for me, but the sauced up cauliflower can feel pretty close in taste to buffalo chicken (just not in texture). The wrap really is good and I’m always craving it! So congrats Pure Kitchen, for giving this meat lover a vegan item to love!

Solarcaine– I know how mundane this sounds of me, but for the upcoming summer months please for all that is good purchase sunscreen and Solarcaine! Protect yourselves from the sun, and if you do get burnt, you’ll thank me later when you have some Solarcaine to save the day. It’s a medicated gel to help relieve minor burns- it has the ingredients Lidocaine, which is used as a topical anesthetic/ “numbing” agent as well as Aloe-Vera, which helps to moisturize the skin while preventing peeling. I’ve always used the gel, but it comes in an aerosol form as well.

Thermoflask Water Bottle- I received this water bottle as a gift during Nurses Week, and it works phenomenally. My water game has upped tenfold, and my drinks always stay cold or hot throughout my entire shift. Which as a Nurse is a huge deal! I believe it was purchased either through Amazon or Costco so I linked the exact one I have from Amazon- it does come in a pack of two, I have the black one.

Finding songs for first thing in the morning to get ready to work!

I’m a fan of all music from all decades and styles but it always changes depending on my mood and even the seasons! As an example normally in the Fall, I tend to play slower acoustic songs and in the summer I play more upbeat country songs. This month, I can easily say I’ve been drawn to the artist Khalid. Every time I hear his music and lyrics I’m just transfixed. He’s just so effortlessly cool! My favourite song of his that I’ve been listening on repeat is Free Spirit. When you’re driving at night with the windows rolled down and have this blasting, you’ll be taken to another place with this song, I’m telling you! Here’s a roundup of my most played this month

Free Spirit- Khalid

Beautiful People- Ed Sheeran & Khalid

From Now On- Zac Brown Band

I Don’t Care- Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber

You Need To Calm Down- Taylor Swift

Greatest Love Story- LANCO
